We are very frustrated…Hubby has a migraine that he has had for four months!!! He has had so many test done these last weeks and the only one we are waiting on insurance to approve is the Cat scan for his brain to see what is going wrong. He is really hurting right now and he said its making him sick…I am really worried he will have a stroke…
He doesn’t want to go to the ER because the cat scan hasn’t been approved yet… I’m insisting he goes hopefully tonight..but I’m looking for I guess a yes or a no ..on will an insurance company be forced to pay for it..if it is done at the ER?
I hope that made sense…thank you for all your answers..
He is more worried about the bill..and is being stubborn because of it..but I just really want him to get the help he needs now.

I say you go..he’s a veteran isn’t he? can’t he go to a veterans hospital?
I’d go no matter what. Nothing good can happen if he has a stroke or a blood clot!!!
He’s being silly and selfish!!
If I can have a colonoscopy on my own he can get a catscan done!!!

Nope, don’t do it. Without pre-approval you will end up paying out the nose for it. Contact your personal doctor, they will contact the insurance company, demanding they get off their a**es and to push this approval through. Hopefully the doctor will then schedule the Cat scan.
I just had one last week for the same problem, still waiting the results, so I feel for you husband.

i think its up to the amount of coverage he has.
some pay 80% of er visits. others pay by tests.
call them and find out. or better yet, call the er and ask a patient advocate or equivalant that knows the insurance carrier.

If you go to the ER and the doctor orders a cat scan, then I believe they have to cover it. I’d do some talking…or maybe just tell him he’s going! Good Luck JayJay…I hope he goes and he can get some help!
