---get a cat insurance quote---

I recently rolled my vehicle and ended up in the ER as a precautionary measure to check for spine damage. No one else was involved in the accident, in my car or otherwise. The hospital took a cat scan and kept me overnight, and in the morning a radiologist said I was fine and they released me. Three days later, they call wanting my SSN and car insurance policy. I’m suspicious that they want this information to strong arm me in the case of a billing dispute or increase my bill based on ability to pay, respectively . Why do they want the information? Should I give it to them? I have health insurance, and they already have that information.

They may be required to bill your auto insurance first. Depending on how your policies are set up, its possible that your health insurance won’t pay anything until your auto insurance pays their portion first.

car accident injuries are paid through you CAR INSURANCE thats why they want the policy number so they can bill for it. And yes you will haver to pay out of your pocket for some of this. NJ is 250 ded with 20% of med bill at the end.

It’s called subrogation. The hospital probably verified with your health insurance that if there is any auto med pay, they must be billed first-either for payment or denial, then the health insurance may be billed.

They want to ensure they are going to get there money. Whether that is from you or your car insurance company. This is commonplace now.

You bet. You received the services and now owe the money.
