It means the car has been written off in an accident.
Category C or D write-off is one that insurers consider uneconomical to repair but one that could, given enough time in the workshop, be repaired and returned to the road.
Category A and B should never be returned to the road. A Category B write off is one that is so badly damaged it can only be used for the salvaging of spare parts, while a Category A is one that is sent to the crusher.r

Not sure whether or not it will affect your insurance premiums but will definitely go against you when trying to sell your car in the future.
Cat D means the car has been in an accident yes. There’s different Category’s A-D with A being the worst I believe. Personally I would shop around and see what else you can get for your money.
    Best of luck =)
