About a year ago, my 8 year old tabby cat was hit by a car and fractured his pelvis.
I found him in the back yard (he had climbed over the fence in his condition) and rushed him to an all night animal hospital that’s about 45 minutes away. I had to sign a form saying that I would pay for anything that they had to do to Oliver. I loved him, so I signed it and they took Ollie in for emergency surgery.
All added up, ollie’s accident cost $2,500(au)
If I had pet insurance for him for his whole life, would that have been cheaper?
I was thinking of getting it for my dogs but I can’t seem to work out if it’s necessary.

I’m Considering Taking On An Elderly Cat. I Live In A Flat With A Large Balcony. Would It Be Fair?

I always stop to stroke a cat I meet when out I’m walking. On Saturday I stopped to say hello to a very friendly elderly looking cat. As I was doing so the person living in the house we were outside popped his head out of the door to say I could have him if I wanted. I was quite surprised and he explained that the cat’s owners had left him and his mother behind when they moved house 4 years ago (how could they?!) and that he had been living in their front yard ever since. Apparently he is very sensible and never goes near the busy road that runs outside the front of the house. This is largely due to the fact that his mother was run over a few years ago. The guy said that the cat has a shelter and that they feed him but that he is not allowed in their house because they have a cat who gets very upset by him. The house is part of a large terrace so other than the front yard there really isn’t much place he can go!
At first I totally discounted the thought of taking him on because in a few weeks I will be moving (with partner) to a flat 9 stories up but the more I think about it the more I think I could take him on. We will have a large balcony (6m wide by 1.5m deep) and as he doesn’t really move from the front yard he currently lives in I think he would probably be quite happy to bask in the sun on the balcony while having somewhere cosey to sleep during the cold weather. The guy I spoke to thinks he’s about 13 but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was a bit older.
Does anyone have any advice? I now walk past the house on a regular basis and he is always out in the garden. If he’s going to move with me to my new flat then I probably need to start to thinking about insurance. My main concern is how happy and safe he will be in a flat with up with a balcony? Incidentally it is only over the road from where he currently is so it won’t mean a big journey for him.
Any advice of things I need to consider would be greatly appreciated!

We had an appointment with a new vet today and he took my cat in the back room to give her her shots. I heard her screaming and went looking for her, she must have been pretty far cuz I didn’t see her. I’ve never heard her scream like that.
He said he has to take them to a different room for insurance reasons, and that he couldn’t get the shots into her cuz she freaked out too much.
She does have a bad attitude normally.
Should I be freaked out by this?
Does anyone else vet do this?

I’m looking for a car and a lot of slightly cheaper ones are category D..what difference does that make to the value of the car? as in insurance etc, can it be removed from the cat d list ? and how could i get that done if i did buy a cat d car? basically is it worth buying a cat d car over a non cat d one?

We are very frustrated…Hubby has a migraine that he has had for four months!!! He has had so many test done these last weeks and the only one we are waiting on insurance to approve is the Cat scan for his brain to see what is going wrong. He is really hurting right now and he said its making him sick…I am really worried he will have a stroke…
He doesn’t want to go to the ER because the cat scan hasn’t been approved yet… I’m insisting he goes hopefully tonight..but I’m looking for I guess a yes or a no ..on will an insurance company be forced to pay for it..if it is done at the ER?
I hope that made sense…thank you for all your answers..
He is more worried about the bill..and is being stubborn because of it..but I just really want him to get the help he needs now.

I am looking for a great pet insurance company to go with that offers discounts for a person with multiple animals to insure.
I have 3 dogs (Boxer, Golden R, Cairn Terrier,) and 3 cats (3 tabbies), and I am on a fixed income because I don’t work anymore and my husband is a cook at a army hospital, and we have 2 teenagers.

i think cats are awesome and i’d love to have one, but i am allergic. i am not very allergic however. like i can pet a cat for a while and my eyes will only get a little itchy. it used to be much worse when i was younger.
anyways, are there medicines i can take for this allergy? are there side effects? is it worth taking the medicine to have a cat? does insurance usually cover the cost of the medicine in my situation? thanks!
