Hi there, I purchased my Corsa July last year from a van rental company, the car was in excellent condition, had low mileage and was pretty reasonably priced.
I found out when I had a knock in it that it had been involved in an accident before, a category D. My understanding was that a Cat D meant it was damaged but the damage was not valued as more than the cars worth and therefore only a minor accident. However my father in law investigated it when I tried to sell it and told me it had been written off.
What does a CAT D actually mean?
The car is not a write off (in terms that I understand ie: not roadworthy/scrapped) In my opinion. It has passed MOT’s and services perfectly, it is MOT’ed until october next year, and the car has been vigorously checked over, there were signs of a crunch at the front behind the grill/bumper but nothing major and I have had everything repaired.
I have been doing some digging and found that the Van Rental place that sold it to me shares the same office with its neighbouring firm, a vehicle recovery company, and I went in there recently and saw that the guy who sold it to me was working on the recovery side of the office answering calls to that effect instead of behind the van rental desk.
My personal impression is that the recovery company is owned by the rental company in some way, they recovered it after an accident and bought it off the insurance company, paid for it to be repaired and sold it to me while lying to me about its history. I being a new driver didn’t investigate the car thoroughly before purchase, my mistake and I will regret it for a while!
Any opinions/ideas about the CAT D/Car history from what I’ve said? If I want to sell it to one of those online companies who buy any cars, do I have to class it as a write off or just an accident? Thanks
Antony

So anyway how much does it cost to get set up with…
Beds?
Jabs?
Bowls?
Insurance?
Also is this a good idea. I have 11 rats atm, Love them but I think most will have passed away by im 18 because they have a rather short lifespan:( and if they are alive I will have to keep them at dads and just pop-up to look after them. But either way if I got 2 baby rats, and a kitten near enough the same time, will it help the kitten and rats bond? as I did this with my lurcher and she gives them kisses, never hurts them.
Please don’t say “recue one from the shelter” even though I would love to because…
1) I want a KITTEN I can have for sevral years and bond with from the very beginning
2) an older cat will kill the rats str8 away
BUT how

Okay, I have posted a ton of questions on this forum the past few days so please be patient with me. YES, I have called my vet and and gotten all kinds of medication from him to make my cat not be nauseaus but it is NOT working. He has not eaten in two days. Just a summary: He has been diagnosed with high grade lymphoma but it is not far enought along yet to be in his other organs..it is in his abdomen. He started his first round of chemo last week (I have pet insurance that pays for this so why not…plus the vet told me that cats respond very well to chemo). So, now he is not eating a darn thing…I have offered him every smelly type of food that I know he cannot resist: tuna, tuna water, wet food, friskies seafood dry food,..etc(basically things I would not normall feed him but I need to get him to eat since he looks anorexic!).
I got really fed up this afternoon and put some almond milk in a syringe and forced it down his throat. He took it fine…did not like that I was forcing it but he did not freak out or throw up. I just did it again. the almond milk I had in my fridge only has 40 calories per 8 ounces (it is unsweetened) but at least I got some fluids down him right? Since I got that down, should I go to the pet store and buy some sort of cat formula (like they use for kittens) since it has more nutritional value? I do not want to give him real milk because I know cats are lactose intolerant.
Advice Please. BTW, I gave him almond milk because I am lactose intolerant and that is what I had in my fridge…so no lecturing please.

My friend was @ her boyfriends house in the garage getting ready to put her dog in the car w hen the Lab saw a cat run across the yard and chased it. The cat ran into the road & the dog followed- both got hit by a car. Dog is ok- cat died. The car was dented (amount damage unkown) My friend spent 12 hrs in the vet with the dog and in the mean time the car owner reported it to his car insurance co. The police came by looking for her and when they finally found her they wanted her name & phone number for the report. Now the insurance co sent her a letter asking for her insurance info. Her car wasn’t involved so I told her they probably want her boyfirned’s homeowner’s insurance info. Would homewoners cover the damage to the car because the dog ran from the yard of the house into the road? I did not know what to tell her. She is in NJ. I told her to call an agent & pose the question to get an unbiased opinion rather than call the homeowners 1st. Can the insurance company come after her?

I took my cat to the vet recently, and I think that I got a taste of what it feels like to be an American without insurance.
My cat got really sick and was trying to pee all over the house. I called the 24 hour vet clinic, and his vet advised me to bring him in. When I asked her over the phone how much it would cost, she said that the minimum charge would be $180 for the exam.
When I took him in, the $180 exam involved her picking him up and feeling his bladder. She determined that it was hard, so he had a blockage that would need treatment. This $180 “exam” took about 2 minutes.
Then, she gave me a run down as to what they were going to do with my cat. She told me it would cost around $500. I agreed to the charges.
She took me to the front desk, where I was charged $755. She told me that this was the maximum amount that I would be charged, but I would likely get some money refunded in the end.
I was called the next day and told that they would need to keep my cat for an additional day. I agreed. They told me it would add $60 to the overall bill.
I spoke with the vet the following day, and she told me that I could probably come to pick up my cat that evening. Sure enough, he was good to go home.
So, I went to pick him up expecting a small refund. I mean, $500 plus $60 is less than $755, right? Well, they handed me an itemized bill for $1180. They explained that it was because they had had to give him sedatives, hook up a catheter, give him antibiotics, special food, and other drugs for the duration of his stay. Then, I had to pay for the drugs to take home too.
Is this what it feels like to need health care in the US and not have insurance?
