I own two vehicles. They are on separate insurance policies (different companies). I get a friend to follow me in the other car to transport them to a separate location. I get in front of him, and a cat runs out in front of me. I slam on breaks, and he runs into the back of me. I file the claim on insurance of the car I am driving. This insurance company then tries to seek subrogation from the insurance company from the car my friend was driving. The complicated part is that I own both cars and my name is on both policies…I can’t sue myself……can the friend driving my other car claim the wreck on his own personal insurance so some of the damages could be recovered???

A friend of mine was fired last week and is struggling with collecting unemployment insurance. In our State you have to apply in person, fill out all kinds of forms, and get interviewed by a case worker.
Anyway she went down to the unemployment office and was shocked how tacky it was. It was in a bad neighborhood and shares a building with the welfare office. She go all kinds of cat calls by the crowd hanging out in the hall and quickly drove away. She forced her self to come back the next day and found the office jammed with all these crazy looking people. She kept telling her self, “I am not like these people, I have a Masters Degree and have worked in fancy offices with professional people”
After two hours she was still waiting and decided to come back later. But as yet she can not get the courage to come back. Was it as bad for you?

About a year ago, my 8 year old tabby cat was hit by a car and fractured his pelvis.
I found him in the back yard (he had climbed over the fence in his condition) and rushed him to an all night animal hospital that’s about 45 minutes away. I had to sign a form saying that I would pay for anything that they had to do to Oliver. I loved him, so I signed it and they took Ollie in for emergency surgery.
All added up, ollie’s accident cost $2,500(au)
If I had pet insurance for him for his whole life, would that have been cheaper?
I was thinking of getting it for my dogs but I can’t seem to work out if it’s necessary.

OK – I’ve never taken it out for previous pets and was lucky enough not to need it. My friend’s old cat got some kind of urinary tract problem that was treated ok, but then some time later, she got the same problem back but was going to be expensive to treat but couldnt get insurance as it was an underlying illness. So, it has made me feel cautious. I have a 5 month old kitten who is very healthy, but if I dont insure her now, will I be able to get cover if she gets ill in the future? Also, there are so many different policies, I dont know what I should be looking for. She is an ordinary moggy – not pedigree, but I love her and would hate if something happened to her that I couldnt afford to treat. Anyway, what I want to know is – can you recommend a policy and why? Also – are there any companies to avoid like the plague and why? Please only give answers that refer to UK policies.
Thanks.

I need help! I am in a terrible situation like most americans today. My position in accounting was disolved and moved out of state in November 2007 after 7 years of working for them. Of course I could not afford their steep charge of Cobra Insurance at about 900.00 a month. So, I lost it. I am currently on unemployment. The job oppurtunities here in Ohio are terrible. No jobs that can pay decent. About 3 months ago I awoke with terrible pain, I could not move, if I did, it was the greatest pain I have ever felt. Went to ER 3 times without much help except pain medication. After 3 weeks of bedridden got in touch with a free clinic that could possible aid in an MRI. The ER refused to do this because of no insurance. The clinic saw me and refered me to another hospital that could help. Instead of MRI I recived an Cat Scan which works just as good. As it turns out,I have narrowing (degenerative disk) in L5-L4-L3. A herniated disk in the L-5 . The L5 is the area that sits right the nerve roots. I got in contact with a orthopedic surgeon that really did not want to take me because of self-pay. He did see me. He prescribed pain medicine and some steroids, to see if the steroids would work. Well they did a little. I still am suffering. My left leg is partially numb. I can’t walk without a limp. My daily diet is IBU Prophen-Vicodin-Flexirill-Tramidall. He explained first, that I would need to have surgery for this to be corrected. He would need to remove disk and fuse the vertebre’s back together with screws. (This will not fix on it’s own). Well, I am so frustrated because I can’t get any help. I make to much money on unemployment, which will be ending in Feburary. (I never have heard of such a thing)! I am a full time student with a 7 year old and 2 sons who are in college.I am about $300 over the state poverty guidlines. Omg..I have never been on unemployment nor have I ever had to ask for assistance throught the state. We pay into Social Security and Medicare all our lives. Why is their not programs out there for the 40 something? I need this surgery, this is preventing me from finding a job and finishing my degree. The doctor told me that we could try some pain management (spinal blocks) .I found out yesterday that I could not even have this done. The doctor that would be doing this will charge $700-1200.00 per shot. OMG..I don’t have this kind of money. So, basically I am stuck. I have written letters to the State Of Ohio senate office as well as the Governors office. This is not right. I have paid money into the state insurancce and can’t get it because I am not the the elderly, nor am I permantley disabled. This is a short term disability. Don’t they see that I could loose everything by Feburary If I do not find a job. I can’t get a job until I can be halfway mobile in order to be 100% effective for my new employer. Who will hire me in this condition. Can somebody help me with any answers to this. This is affecting every aspect of my life. I feel the pain of the millions of people who are uninshured. The rules should change, especially today, in this economic crisis that we are all going through. Please help on Ohio!

I am 18 years old and I was in a dirtbike accident I was riding in the ditch and going about 30 miles per hour. There was a huge hole in the ditch and I didn’t see it because the grass was a little big, so when I hit the hole I lost control and fell. I had a helmet ($600 professional helmet) which probably saved my life because when I fell I hit my head really hard and suffered a concussion. I also had a little bleeding from my kidneys because my body hit the handle bars. Well I was taken to the hospital, and they took Cat-scans and stuff and said I was okay. I only had a mild concussion and the kidney bleeding would go away if I drank a lot of fluids. This has been two months ago and the hospital just called because the insurance needs more information about the accident. Should I worry about this? Will they not cover the medical bill?
Additional details: I was riding a CRF230F. This is a trail bike not a racing bike. It has 230cc engine. I have been riding dirtbikes since the age of 5 but don’t have a motorcycle license but I never ride on the road just in the ditch, or inside my yard ( I have a one acre yard). I don’t have motorcycle insurance, but I don’t care about the bike. Will the insurance cover this? If it won’t why won’t it cover?

I recently adopted a pug, and after spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on him and crates and lessons and food, he got into some pills (we assume, we searched the whole house and couldn’t figure it out) and died in the vets office, and all in all tallied up quiet the expense.
It was all very traumatic, I cried for days. My defeatist side told me that I should never had tried to make myself happy with the dream puppy in the first place. My more cynical side hates me for spending all the time and money on it. And of course I blame myself. If he were anybody else’s he’d be munching on Kibble’s ‘N Bits right now or pestering the cat. A lot better than the month we had with him. Most of all I just miss my puppy.
Of course, after all this I realize I shouldn’t have been putting off buying pet insurance until I started taking him in car rides and introducing him to other animals and what not.
Definitely buying it first thing next time.
How has pet insurance helped you? What all does it cover, how much does it cost, any info you can give me. For when and if I can have another pet.

I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Tennessee PPO, but I live in Pennsylvania. My coinsurance says 70%, so I believe that means I am responsible for 30%. My deductible is $1,000, but it also says that my in-network out-of-pocket limit is $5,000. I am probably going to have a few surgeries this year now that I have insurance.
I will be going to an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor for my tonsils, which will probably need removed. The average cost for this surgery is about $5,000.
I will be going to a gynecologist and will more than likely need a DNC, Average cost for this procedure is also about $5,000.
I also need to go back to my neurologist to have another MRI of my brain (I have seizures and had a stroke). I’m sure the cost of this will be over $10,000, since I’m sure he will also order another CAT scan, etc.
I’m just wondering if this means that no matter how high up my medical costs go this year, I only have to pay 30% until I end up paying $5,000 out-of-pocket, then I only pay for doctor’s visits?
