Health Insurance – I’m Having Trouble Understanding My Coverage?

I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Tennessee PPO, but I live in Pennsylvania. My coinsurance says 70%, so I believe that means I am responsible for 30%. My deductible is $1,000, but it also says that my in-network out-of-pocket limit is $5,000. I am probably going to have a few surgeries this year now that I have insurance.
I will be going to an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor for my tonsils, which will probably need removed. The average cost for this surgery is about $5,000.
I will be going to a gynecologist and will more than likely need a DNC, Average cost for this procedure is also about $5,000.
I also need to go back to my neurologist to have another MRI of my brain (I have seizures and had a stroke). I’m sure the cost of this will be over $10,000, since I’m sure he will also order another CAT scan, etc.
I’m just wondering if this means that no matter how high up my medical costs go this year, I only have to pay 30% until I end up paying $5,000 out-of-pocket, then I only pay for doctor’s visits?

I work at a resturant and this past weekend I slipped and fell on my head. The fall was my fault because 1) I chose to slide on the floor that I knew was wet 2) I was drinking and they know because when I went to the hospital they took my alcohol content. I am going to try and file a Workers Comp claim through the place I work just to get my medical bills paid thats it. I know it doesnt cost the business anything because I talked to a insurance rep and its just included in their insurance. However their insurance can deny me because of the alcohol so if they do will my own insurance cover me? The hospital bill was for $2500 which included a CAT scan and stitches.

Am adopting a 6 mo. old ridgeback/rottie mix from HSUS, poorly socialized, nips out of fear, need to socialize with 8 yr. old cat (non-dog lover -abandonment fear issues by others) coming now to wide-open spaces and loving environ.
Any ideas on behavioral techniques (for both), food feeding, puppy health insurance policies?

Our 18 month old cat has broken his femur and the only way to help him is by surgery but it will cost us ovef $2,500.00. The only other options are to let him live in pain or put him down. Are there any pet insurances that will help us with the surgery even thought the broken leg is a pre-existing condition?

Recently I had strangulated hernia surgery. I was having extreme stomach pain and went to ER. In ER the cat scan revealed strangulated hernia and i was taken in ambulance to hospital for immediate surgery. I was insured that time.
The surgery was done. After that i still experienced stomach pains, and the gastro-enterologist suggested i get an endoscopy test done.
I got endoscopy done by the gastro-enterologist and a diagnosis of gastritis was revealed by the endoscopy.
The health insurance company sent me 2 letters. First letter requested i answer several questions in regard to the hernia surgery — like did any doctor ever before say i have hernia prior to my coverage, what medications i took from 2008 to 2009 and for what conditions and how much strength, to give name of previous insurance companies, etc etc.
The second letter said —
PRE-EXISTING CONDITION.
Then the hospital sent me letters saying that health insurance has refused to pay any bill and that now I am responsible for payment. They said i can pay in installment and that the first installment would be $3500 which I should pay out of pocket.
However, i seriously was never ever diagnosed of hernia or gastritis ever before. It came as a total surprise and i just can’t imagine how they made the pre-existing decision. I got my coverage in january 2008.
How can i be having strangulated hernia and gastritis in 2007 or before when there is no proof? I made several phone calls to the health insurance company, and they said the pre-existing condition decision is final.
Who should i complain to now?

the first time i went in there they said he was the healthiest cat they have ever seen and i took him in there yesterday and they said that his teeth had tarter on them and he had flea dust and
his weight dropped almost a pound and i called them up and they said they it was normal but i think they are just wanting more money what should i tell them
and also they said they want to shave him because he has one tiny not in his fur on his stomach should i do it i dont think it needs to be cut but i dont know because i have never gotten

my neighbor doesn’t have medical insurance so she has to go to the free clinic. she had thyroid cancer and both thyroids removed now. she found a lump where she had the cancer,they did a cat scan and said “we found something in your sinuses and where you had cancer and also something on you right lung”.the clinic is making her wait to see a specialist because of no insurance,they keep telling her it all takes time to get in to the specialist.mean while she is a nervous wreck. so she talked to the lady incharge of the clinic and got no where. my question is who can she contact to get some answers to get the results of what they found, they told her a specalist has to read the cat scan to say what they found. she has been waiting almost 3 weeks. if it was me i’d sure want to know ASAP. PLEASE help
