i bought a pug 206 nearly 2 years ago , (it was 04 PLATE) it was wrote off and did it up to standard i also took it for a VOSA test to make sure it was road worthy. i think it was cat C originally..
now after 2 years paying fully comprehensive cover on my veichle someone has told me that if it has already been wrote of before then i couldnt make a claim again for my car if i had an aciendent. so now i have spent £2000 on insurance for 2 years, that seems to be invalid if i was to have an accident, no where did it ask if the motor had been involved in an acciendent before.
is it true if a car is a cat c, therafter it can only be insured 3rd party??
and where do i stand have i lost 2 years money or could i get some back ?
this also leads me to believe that if people sell a car thats been in a cat C acciendent bt they do not tell the buyer and they insure the car fully comp unknowing it has been in an acciendent would they not be able to claim ???
please help many thanks

You can still have comprehensive and collision coverage on an auto that was formally totaled. But, the settling of your claim would be much less in the end. It’s not like the Insurance company would not pay you for the damage-it’s just minus depreciation.
If you don’t want full coverage on your auto, I would see if your insurance company would listen to your story and backdate and refund-they may not though. Was your title stamped totaled or do you have another document showing this? If you do, it might help to show your insurance company this to get your money back.
If you received the auto from a private sale, it’s not illegal to sell it and not tell you, it’s just not nice.
