I’ll be getting two gorgeous 8 week old male kittens at the end of the week. I think I’ll be going for petplan. Question: Does it cost double to insure two kittens? I was quoted about £9 per month for one. Also, what exactly is pet insurance for? I know it covers big bills if your cat gets ill, but does it cover things like: general check ups? injections, getting spayed etc? (doubt it)

There are so many policies covering different things it is nearly impossible to give you a direct answer to your question. I did a lot of research when insuring my kitten and decided to go with petplan. They were not the cheapest but they pay the vet directly so you dont have to pay up front and then battle to claim your money back. Most vets will recomend petplan because of this. Generally it covers non-routine treatment, such as if your cat was in an accident or got some illness. Petplan also give life cover which is good as some companies will not cover older cats or cover pre-existing conditions. That is why it is good to insure cats when they are young. They also pay for boarding if you were taken to hospital in an emergency. They may give a reduced rate for insuring 2 pets but I honestly dont know for sure.
All the best with your kittens – they grow up sooooo quickly so be sure to take lots of photos when they are young !

Im not sure if it will cost double to insure two kittens. I insured my kitten about a month ago now with More Than pet insurance it cost’s me £7 a month. I would strongly recommend that you insure your kittens and dont put it off. The pet insurance won’t cover you for yearly check-ups, injections and spaying. But if your kittens become ill, you don’t have to worry where the money is coming from. My kitten got attacked by another cat, I took her to an emergency cat hopital where they kept her over night and removed an infectious lump the other cat had given her. I wasnt insured at this point and it cost me £400!
My pet insurance also covers me if my kitten gets lost or stolen or dies. I get funds towards advertising, reward money. They also offer a phone service for when your not sure if your kitten needs to go to the vet, I’ve found that quite useful as well. Good luck with your new arrivals
