My Cat Is Vomiting………………….…

February 19th, 2010 → 12:20 pm @ // 13 Comments

My cat has been throwing up on and off all day, she will do it 2 times and then an hour or two will pass then she will throw up 2 more times. I tried giving her food(she has had none since earlier in the day about 8 hours ago) less than a minute later she threw up 2 more times. I am not sure what to do I have no pet insurance and am not employed having no money for the vet. So at this point I am panicking. Any suggestions?????

Ask the vet if they will do a payment plan, or if they know of a charity clinic in your area. You could also ask local humane/rescue societies if they know where you could get help. Cats need to eat on a regular basis or they get liver problems, and if she’s not keeping anything down she could get dehydrated, so repeated vomiting is something to take seriously.
You sound caring: I am sure you will do your best for your cat.

Most Americans don’t have pet insurance, but if you can’t afford to take an animal to the vet, you shouldn’t have the pet! You NEED to at least call the vet, and ask them about payment options after sharing the information about your cat. They will be able to help you, and I’m sure there is some way you can slowly pay off the bill (which could be a very small sum, if the problem is obvious). Be a responsible pet owner and take care of your cat please. She is clearly very ill and needs veterinary attention.

I never got my cat her shots. She started throwing up, then disappeared for two days. A neighbor finally found her and I brought her home. She was very weak and I planned on taking her to the vet the next morning. In the morning she was dead. I was told it was feline leukemia. There are treatments for the symptoms but no cure. Anyways if your cat has had its shots don’t worry about this. It just totally blew me away with my kitty. This just happened last week.
Another thing..my mothers cat occasionally throws up if there is any change in her diet.

I would just call your vet…they probably have an answering service. When the vet calls back, explain the symptoms & your situation. Maybe they can work out a payment plan.
This doesn’t sound like normal vomiting behaviour for a cat, so I would just call.

don’t give her anything not even water for a day. It could be something she ate or parasite that should eventually pass. If not she should be seen by a vet. I am sure it is nothing to serious and she will be just fine. Good luck

Old folk remedy: Give your cat a raw egg. It will coat her stomach like Pepto does for you. This should help with the vomiting. ….. Are you sure it isn’t a hairball? If it persists, take your cat to the vet.

Tke your cat to the vet and shout “it’s an emergency!” or something, insurance or no they should help. You need to take her to the vet NOW!!!!!!!!!!
