I live in UK, my mum lives in Cyprus. I’m moving back to her in two weeks time because of the way that my dad is treating me (long story + that’s not what this question is about :p)
Ok, so my white rabbit is definitley going with me, we did all the insurance and travel stuff already. The thing is, my mum wants a cat. And she’s going to have a Sphinx (yes, the hairless ones with head 10X as large as it’s body
) kitten. My rabbit gets along with dogs because lots of my friends have dogs and they are all perfectly fine with him, and vice versa.
But I don’t know if he’s going to be ok with cats. I don’t know anyone who has a cat, and also I know that he might act differently towards this cat than to the other one.
So I was wondering, do you know how rabbits get along with cats, or what to do if they’ll be negative?
Leaving him is not an option, he’s my biggest treasure, no way I’m giving him up!
You know that I play this better

I know people who have cats and rabbits. They are fine. I think if the rabbit is domesticated it doesn’t give off a wild scent and I think that is why cats eat them because they are wild.

Actually yes… but you need to be careful with introducing and don’t let them out together at first… keep them in cages besides eachother for a while. If the cat is a kitten then that’s the best age to introduce it to a rabbit.
Be careful when putting them outside though, supposedly the ‘wilderness’
environment can trigger a cat’s instincts. I don’t know how true it is, but it makes sense.

It’s very possible.
You have to do a slow introduction when she actually gets the cat.
Just like you would have done when your bunny met dogs for the first time.
If [s]he is used to other animals, a cat should be fine.
You mostly have to watch how the cat reacts to the bunny.
Anyways, good luck

We had a pet rabbit and a cat at the same time. We slapped the cat when we first introduced them and he attacked her, so he learned that he was not supposed to do that, and they became friends and even lovers! When the rabbit went into heat, the cat went crazy and had sex with her. After that they became very close and would groom each other and sleep cuddled together.

Yeah. I have two rabbits and a cat and my rabbit chases away my cat. It is very funny. Romeo (my other rabbit) doesn’t but he doesn’t mind the cat. And my cat knows hes not allowed to touch the rabbits.

My friend has a rabbit and two cats and for the most part they ignore the rabbit. It’s in it’s cage most of the time anyway. The cats are indoor/out cats if that makes a difference to you.

Yeah, sure! I have a rabbit and 3 cats. It really depends on the cat. Since your rabbit gets along with dogs, he’ll probably get along with cats too. Of my 3 cats:
-one is anti-social
-one is calm, timid, and playful
-one is hyper and really playful
My rabbit gets along with the 2nd one. Seriously, I think they’re in love. My rabbit follows her everywhere and they sit down and cuddle together. It’s too cute! They chase each other around too. My rabbit actually chases her more than she chases him.
But, my 3rd cat tried to attack him, so I don’t let him near the rabbit anymore unless my bunny is in his cage. And the anti-social cat pretty much doesn’t care about the rabbit at all.
If your mom’s cat attacks generally anything, you can try and see how he reacts with your rabbit, but keep a very close eye on him. If he makes any move that looks like he’s hunting or something, get him away from your rabbit immediately. But, if the cat is pretty mellow, he should be fine. Cats are usually less threatening to rabbits because they’re smaller than dogs. Chances are if he gets along with dogs, he’ll be just fine with cats

yes it is possible if the cat is a kitten
its best for the rabbit to be there when the kitten comes but in your case this is not possible so as long as its still a young kitten it should be ok
i had a rabbit and a cat at the same time, they used to run around the garden together
lily (the cat) would poke the rabbit
hed then hop away, then come up behind her n ram her
all of this was playfull and they never hurt each other
so yes it is possible

You go girl no need giving him up , he is part of the family ! I know how you feel i cant live without my dogs too otherwise my life is going to be Depro ! I know cats very well it is all up to the cat and him it will be much easier when the cat is still a kitten like in your case, then he will grow up knowing him as his friend remember they are almost just like us they will make friends with one another. Watch out just like you they can get jealous too, so you must give them the same amount of attention ! (I know the one will be Special to you in your own way) But like I said its all up to them! Keep instinct in mind though
