I think it was bleeding but it is a red line from where it was scratched. I looked up a lot of information on this but it was in reference to a corneal abrasion and its on the sclera. I do not have health insurance so what can i do at home? What products can i buy? I have let a wet paper towel sit on it for a while. I also put some ice on it. Now i have it wrapped in a gauze pad. What else should I do? (My cat did this – I picked my head up in bed and bam right into my eye) All answers are very appreciated. Also for people who have had this, how long would/should it take? Anyone have this and not go to the doctor? I know they would give antibiotics but like i said, no insurance. Thanks!

If your eye is scratched you need to go to an eye doctor right away or risk getting an eye infection that can lead to blindness. The doctor will give you a prescription for medicated eye drops that will prevent an infection. Since your cat’s paws are dirty from walking in the litter box you have a high risk of infection.

call a local eye GROUP and ask for a RX for Prednisone Drops, they are white and milky looking
they will help your eye heal.
you can go to free clinics,
or the hospital ER aswell, even if you don’t have insurance they must treat you.
And can give you a discounted rate.
BUT ER’s are more expensive
if you see a Eye doctor , he might give you a reduced rate aswell
Why not call them and see if they can work something out for you
Good luck

My mother scratched her eye putting her contact in one time, she just left it alone. It will heal on it’s own, if it’s your cat though you might want to bury the hatchet and see a doctor just in case it’s infected. There are all kinds of things under a cats nail, believe me it might be less expensive to see someone now before it gets worse. You can also try visine but probably wouldn’t recommend it. My son had a eye surgery and they gave him some prescription drops so his eye wouldn’t get infected. You might need a prescription. Best of luck.

This happened to me several year ago. You really need to see an eye doctor. When I did it there were some drops that I had to use (I can’t remember the exact purpose) and they had me wear a contact patch on my eye for about a week or so so that it could heal. I know you said that you don’t have insurance and don’t want to go, but you really need to. If you leave it untreated, it could become infected and it could get a lot worse for you.
Best of luck.
