insurance. I already know i’m allergic to cats, and I grew up with a dog, but I just wanted to make sure, before getting a dog and having to send her/him back if I was really bad around the pet, allergy wise.

if you’ve already had a dog, and didnt die from an allergic reaction, then dont worry about it. you might still be allergic, but given enough time you will gain immunity to your particular dog.
if you’re worried how you might react, just go buy some claritin and start taking that after you get the dog. worst case scenario: you get full blown allergy symptoms that can be dulled with meds. be it prescription or over the counter.
i’m allergic to dogs, i’ve owned one all my life tho so i’m usually fine with mine, others tend to make me sneeze and get itchy eyes. i was even on allergy shots for over 7 years and they eventually came back so i dont see what the point is.

Why not spend a few hours volunteering at the local animal shelter walking & playing with the dogs they have? You’ll find out if you have an allergy for sure, and you’ll be doing a good thing.
(Maybe even meeting a future pet!)

Go to someone’s house who has one and spend some time their. You’ll be able to tell.
