'Direct Claim' is the term for paying your vet directly but this is entirely up to the veterinary practice. Most insurance companies will pay to the vet. Its worth looking into any insurance fine-print as a lot of the cheaper ones (e.g. Tesco and Sainsbury) will only cover any condition for the first year in which it is diagnosed. Once diagnosed a new insurance company will also not cover that condition. This is obviously fine for short term injuries or diseases. Pet Plan, Pet Protect and others will 'Cover for Life' - very useful for ongoing problems for example kidney problems in older cats. Heard that Marks and Spencers do a pretty good insurance also.

Hi,i took out pet plan.It is the best one not the cheapest but its the only one that carries on paying for treatment.None pay up front. You can make arrangements with your vet.I have been with pet plan for 12 years the last 2 years my dog has needed 2 operations & is on medication which she will be on for the rest of her life.they pay out.

direct line insurance are pretty good, and you do need to pay an excess fee , but the rest is paid directly to the vet so you dont have to stump up everything at once.
