ie for food, insurance etc.
To be honest i’m not getting one, i just started uni and my cat would never talk to me again lol!! But i live in a flat next to a field and always see people playing with their dogs and miss the days when i was little and had one. I love my puddy tat tho he is gorgeous. But one day, maybe when i finish uni i might get a little dog. Are they a great deal more expensive?
Thanks

Our little Chihuahua eats about the same
as a cat and we don’t have to buy cat
litter, she waits till her morning walk to
do her business with a ball stuck in
her mouth.

Depends on the size of the dog. On the whole you often find cats tend to be healthier than purebreed dogs because they arent bred to extremes of shape and size…however if you get a purebred cat you will still have inbreeding problems. In terms of cost of neutering, insuring and feeding, a small cat probably costs the same as a toy or terrier size dog. The problem is always unexpected vet bills, insurance will cover some but not all and you still have to pay excess. It doesnt cost much to feed a small to medium size dog, even if you feed a super premium food like Science plan.

It can be cheaper or more expensive. I have 2 dogs 3 cats. [ cats are my mom's], but one cat literally has asthma we have put sooo much money into him he gets sick all the time, but hes happy. So we keep giving him medicine. My husky all she has ever needed is shots, heart worm stuff…then the usual
[ chip $40, Harness $20, Food/water bowl $10, Leash $16, food monthly $40 ]
talking about necessities I would say cats “might” be the same because you have to buy litter and food.
[ chip $40, collar $10, Food/water bowl $5, food monthly $30, liter monthly $30 ]
Dogs its only food.
Now keep in mind this is just estimation lol.
Just know that wheather its a cat, dog, bird..etc.. things can happen surprise vet bills.
Always hope for the best, plan for the worst.

Yes, it depends on the size of the dog as well, also the vets fees can be more expensive. I see you go to university and a dog will take a lot more looking after as it will need walks., but a cat will look after itself and need never, ever go out, that is why they make good pets in high rise flats.

if its a little dog you want, then not really. it will eat about the same. obviously, you can buy more tyos and things for dogs than cats, but thats optional.
get it insured, and vets bills wont be an issue. it will only be slightly more expensive than insuring a cat.

yeah. my mom has two large dogs and she’s always telling me she can’t believe how much they eat. 20lb bag of dog food doesn’t last her long. 20lb bag of cat food lasts a month or so lol
i had a jrt, small dog, and not only did he cost more, he demanded moe of my time.

Yes they are. Food tends to be more expensive, Dogs tend to need to veterinary care and unlike cats they need to be trained. it goes without saying that a dog takes more time to look after than a cat.

Dogs are less fussy about what they eat and also cost less for injections from the vet – I saw the sign in my vets the other day and he said its cos cats get more diseases.

A little more to keep but they give you so much back in return.
Why would you even consider getting a cat?
You might as well get a Goldfish or a stuffed Badger.

yes, they are more expensive and require more time from you, like walking them twice a day and vet bills, they eat alot of food as they grow older

get a small dog and the food bills will be roughly the same, however a dog is higher maintanance and more fun, to empty a cat you just let it out, to empty a dog you have to either let it out in the garden or take it for a walk, and you have to pick up the poo yourself to, on the good side having a dog is healthy for you, getting out in the fresh air walking fields and parks, meeting people and getting in touch with the natural world.me i have both, and strangly enough because we got our cat as a kitten with our three dogs already in the house when she arrived we have a cat that thinks she is a dog, even licks us like a dog sleeps in the baskets with the dogs and even follows us when we walk the dogs down the street to the park, the cat has three body guards when other dogs turn up that arnt so friendly towards her to, Maisey mastif does look odd with walking with a puddy tat walking besides her, and colin the collie makes a nice bed partner with his warm long coat, cant forget to mention the spaniel although she just seems to be there scatty as ever
