My stepsons motorbike was run over by delivery truck where he works. The insurance company say its not worth them repairing but he can have it back and repair it himself. They have deemed it a category D so he must have it checked over as roadworthy before he can ride it. The only damage is a broken rear light and slight damage to the handlebars. We live in Wiltshire

A motor bike mot station would be able to check that it was road legal.Hope this helps

In cars you do not have to have a cat D checked out formally so i doubt if you do with a bike. However, common sense and peace of mind would see you taking it in for a pre-mot check – or an mot.
