Do Insurance Companys Carry Out There Own Inspection Of Write Off’s?

January 25th, 2010 → 12:22 am @ // 3 Comments

I want to buy a Cat D car but I want to know if an insurance company carrys out there own inspection to dertermin what catgory to give it. Cat D means there was no structual damage to the car just cosmetic. Would someone from the insurance company check this before putting the car in this Catgory
I am concerned cause the car i am buying had a knock on the back and thats are been repaired however this could have affected the frame of the car. I was thinking if there was damage to the frame the car would be placed in Cat C rather then Cat D

All new cars are tested to destruction, and the insurance companies give the category according to where the damage is and the speed etc of the accident, but you are right to be cautious, cars dont have seperate chassis these days so what looks like quite a mild bump could have a rippling effect and make the car dangerous, the best thing to do is get the AA to do a report on it, it dosnt cost much and you would have peace of mind!

    Depends
    Sometimes they send an employee.
Sometimes they get a company of loss adjusters to inspect on their behalf and sometimes they rely on the word of a garage employee supported by photographs
