All pet insurance policies will not cover you for conditions that already exist in the cat, so Kenny’s present illness will not be covered, even after the initial no-claim period.
My suggestion is to make a few phonecalls to cat rescue and shelter organisations, and explain the situation.
Tell them that you can’t afford to pay now. Many of these organisations will be happy to set up a payment plan with you – they appreciate that the animal needs help NOW and that there are people who aren’t in a financial position to pay up front as vet treatment can be very expensive.
All the best to you, and of course Kenny.
EDIT : these kind of questions almost inevitably draw responses saying “if you cant afford a vet don’t have a cat” – please don’t let that type of comment upset you – it is abundantly clear you care very much for your cat and are doing your best to get him help.

Unfortunately most insurance companies will not pay out for treatment for at least 30 days after the policy starts. Can you come to an arrangement with your vet to pay in installments? In the UK, there are places like the Blue Cross and SPCA which might be able to help. If in the USA, have you tried the SPCA?

You can try ASPCA insurance. Go to the site ASPCA.org.
The insurance costs are about $11-23 per month for 1 cat.
It will cover 80% of your medical expences.
