You can, but it will be more expensive than if she was younger. Also, if she has any illness/cancer that has been diagnosed, it will not be covered under the insurance. http://www.petinsurance.com/affiliates/S…

No, you won’t be able to get insurance, and I’m not sure that you’d even want it.
VPI, and most other pet insurers will not insure cats that are over 10 years old.
You’d be much better off putting that money into a savings account each month, and reserving it for vet bills.
If you want your cat to live longer, you should do something to address her weight issue. That’s a medical problem, and definitely not good for her health.

18 yrs old … I doubt it. That is quite old for a cat. They might insure her but it would cost a pretty penny.
My mother worked for an insurance company for a long time and they would really give people a hard time to get life insurance for themselves if they had like one little problem (I’m talking like asthma here).
Call around though.
Best of luck.

Do you really need insurance for a cat that old? If I’m a senior and I start having problems that reduce the quality of my life I wan’t my doctor to”pull the plug”. I know we all love our pets but nobody want to suffer including Fluffy.

It depends on the area where you live. VPI covered my 14 year old cat, but she already had kidney problems so they wouldn’t cover anything that had to do with kidney testings, medication, etc. Call and ask them.. they covered my cat who was over 10 years old.

Yes, you probably can, but it is likely to be more costly, and may only cover certain conditions.
You may find it better to put some money aside regularly to anticipate possible future vet bills.

Landon is right.. It depends on where you live & what your cat has already been diagnosed with. At 18 though I really wouldn’t worry about it.. sounds like you’re a good pet owner & that she’s had a long, happy life

I’m sure you can get insurance on her, though it will be a bit higher than it would if she were younger.

Not worth it. Anything happens to that cat, just put it down. Anything else is cruel
